Boeing Income Statement Analysis Sample

In this section of the financial report, I walk you through a broad definition of what an income statement is and why it is essential.  From this, I then discuss and define important income statement line items, such as revenues, gross profits, etc., in detail.  Finally, I offer a summary analysis of the company's important income statement line item trends.  For example,...

Boeing Cost of Goods Sold.

Boeing’s cost of goods sold (COGS) in 2017 was $76 billion.  As compared to revenues, their COGS was 81.4%.  In 2021, their COGS were $59.2 billion.  As compared to revenues, their COGS was 95.1%.  This trend indicates that the organization is not able to increase prices while maintaining its raw material costs from suppliers.  This is a poor trend from an investor’s perspective.

Boeing Balance Sheet Analysis Sample

In this section of the financial report, I walk you through a broad definition of what a balance sheet is and why it is important.  From this, I then discuss and define important balance sheet line items, such as cash, inventory, etc., in detail.  Finally, I offer a summary analysis of the company's important balance sheet line item trends.  For example,...

Boeing Property, Plant, and Equipment

Boeing’s property, plant, and equipment (PP&E) were $12.6 billion or 136% of sales in 2017.  In 2021, the organization’s property, plant, and equipment were $10.9 billion or 127% of sales.  This trend indicates that the company is taking action to divest underperforming or underutilized fixed assets.  However, because the firm is suffering revenue loss, additional fixed asset sales may be needed to better align its property, plant, and equipment with sales projections.  From an investor’s perspective, this is a poor trend.

Boeing Financial Ratios Sample

In this section of the financial report, I walk you through definitions of various popular financial ratios, how to calculate the ratios, formulas used, etc. Also, for some popular financial ratios, I provide brief explanations of what the ratios mean as it is related to the company.

Boeing Quick Ratio

Boeing’s quick ratio was .37 in 2017.  In the next four years, the organization’s quick ratio would decrease slightly to .36 in 2021.  This trend indicates that the company seems to have a strategy in place to ensure liquid assets are available and not tied up in inventory holdings.  From an investor’s perspective, this is an ok trend.

Analyst Grade: B

Boeing Fixed Asset Turnover Ratio

Boeing’s fixed asset turnover was 7.4 in 2017.  In the next four years, the organization’s fixed asset turnover would fall moderately to 5.7.  This trend shows that the company is underutilizing its fixed assets significantly under management.  To correct this problem, the company needs to sell off underperforming or utilized fixed assets.  From an investor’s perspective, this is a poor trend.
