Tesla Income Statement Analysis Sample

In this section of the financial report, I walk you through a broad definition as to what an income statement is and why it is important.  From this, I then discuss and define important income statement line items, such as revenues, gross profits, etc. in detail.  Finally, I offer a summary analysis of the company's important income statement line item trends.  For example,...

Tesla's Cost of Goods Sold.

Tesla’s cost of goods sold as compared to revenues in 2019 was 83.4%.  In the next two years, the organization’s cost of goods sold as compared to revenues would continually decline, ending 2021 at 74.7% as compared to revenues.  This decline indicates that the organization is continually taking steps to lower its raw material costs, or the firm is increasing its sales price to cover the increased material costs.  Regardless, the organization is continually increasing its gross profit margin over the last three years, which is an excellent trend.

Tesla Financial Ratios Sample

In this section of the financial report, I walk you through definitions of various popular financial ratios, how to calculate the ratios, formulas used, etc. Also, for some popular financial ratios, I provide brief explanations of what the ratios mean as it is related to the company.

https://youtu.be/mVBxmu329UM

Tesla's Fixed Asset Turnover Ratio

Tesla’s fixed asset turnover ended 2017 at 1.17.  In the next four years, the organization would continually better utilize its fixed assets for sales ending 2021 at 2.85.  The continued optimal use of its fixed assets shows that the firm does need more growth in its property, plant, and equipment business segment.

Tesla's Return on Equity

Tesla’s return on equity increased from 3.88% in 2020 to 18.7% in 2021.  However, because the organization seems to be shifting its capital structure to rely more upon equity as compared to debt, substantial growth in the organization’s return on equity ratio should not be anticipated in the long term.  Fortunately, though, the organization’s reliance on equity financing as compared to debt financing should reduce the firm’s overall financial risk.
