Brief Summary of Alphabet (Google) Financial Position

Alphabet's current market cap is 1.43 trillion as of 8/22.  The firm's 52-week stock price trading range is between $102.21 - $152.10.  As for their Beta, this would be 1.08, which means the firm is a bit riskier as compared to the overall market.  And finally, Yahoo Finance stated that the company's 1-year stock target price is $148.95, which may mean the company's stock price is undervalued.

Alphabet (Google) Income Statement Analysis Sample

In this section of the financial report, I walk you through a broad definition of what an income statement is and why it is essential.  From this, I then discuss and define important income statement line items, such as revenues, gross profits, etc., in detail.  Finally, I offer a summary analysis of the company's important income statement line item trends.  For example,...

Alphabet (Google) Cost of Goods Sold.

Alphabet’s cost of goods sold (COGS) was $45.5 billion in 2017.  As compared to revenues, the cost of goods sold was 41.1%.  As of 2021, Alphabet’s cost of goods sold was $110.9 billion.  As compared to the sales, this would be 43.1%.  Overall, a 2% increase in the cost of goods sold as compared to revenues is moderate, to say the least.  From this, it seems like Google is doing ok in controlling its variable costs.

Alphabet (Google) Property, Plant, and Equipment

Alphabet’s property, plant, and equipment (PP&E) were $42.3 billion in 2017.  In the next several years, Alphabet would increase its property, plant, and equipment ending 2021 at $97.5 billion.  However, as compared to sales in 2017, the property, plant, and equipment were 99.7%.  In 2021, their property, plant, and equipment as compared to sales was hundred 147.8%.  This indicates that the company’s property, plant, and equipment may be underutilized from a revenue generation perspective.  From an investor’s perspective, this is a poor trend.
